In newer mediums like user experience design there is always room to improve the process. Here is one I have been perfecting for 5+ years.


1. Research
a. Gain insight of user needs, pain points, & motivations
b. Review similar projects & design ideas
c. Understand functionality & purpose
Deliverable:

2. Information architecture
a. Conduct card sorting exercises
b. Investigate user paths
Deliverable:
1. Information Architecture

3. Layout
a. Begin with b/w sketches centered on the layout
b. Create solutions for the user flow diagram
Deliverable:
1. Low/High Fidelity Wireframes


4. Interaction
a. Determine how the user will interact with elements
b. Develop hover, click, & touch states
Deliverable:
1. Low/High Fidelity Prototypes
2. UX Guidelines


5. User Interface
a. Define colors to inform the user
b. Transform wireframes into dimension and space
Deliverable:
1. Mockups
2. Styleguide


6. Voice
a. Understand the brand's voice
b. Create typical phrases the brand would say
Deliverable:
1. Content


7. User Interface Development
a. Create common classes and elements
b. Develop reusable templates

8. Usability Test
